Manifesto: The Stasis Striving for Effect
This is a manifesto in progress that considers the possibility of silence as an artistic strategy. The document is designed in such a way that it may be inverted and read from both sides. The two essays, opposite in terms of vertical orientation, meet in the middle. One side describes my basis for belief in silence where as the other side lists all possible strategies through which one could arrive at this silence. As the reader moves into the text, the print begins to fade. It becomes deliberately difficult demanding focused attention and requires holding each page separately to light thus underlining the sensory phenomenology of reading.
