Hairless

Hairless

This work arose from a kind of linguistic speculation that a chance combinations of words led to. What if an entire city lost its hair? In that sense it is an acquiescence to a game of chance and probability. This is an attempt to realize and bring forth into the world all possibilities of meaning created by mere linguistic combinations and thus, attempt the impossible task of exhausting language.

However, the world thus realized though a whimsical linguistic construction also stands on its own. It is a nod to a kind of soft apocalypse, where everything continues per usual since hair is not an evolutionary necessity, and yet it is a world with eco-anxiety, longing and sensory deprivation.

Script:

It's a city of hairless creatures.
Eager evolution overdid its job.
It fell slowly, gently at first
and then in perversely delightful lumps.

Now
their lice roam freely
in full view of surveillance devices.
All manners of haircare products
are housed in a museum.
Many labels expired.

Goosebumps are a legend
that our mighty warriors
Touch, Cold, Fear
have given up on.

Everyone aches to kiss fuzzy upper lips.

Everyone is homesick.
